Laughter is a Gift of God

Even though we know we are children of the Most High God, set apart and made Holy by the blood of the lamb, we sometimes don’t act and feel like the powerful, perfect in His sight, superhero new creatures God created us to be. Just like our life circumstances, we are a work in progress.

Although sin is never a joking matter, our bumbling efforts forward in grace don’t always have to be a source of self-loathing and a measuring stick of how far we have to go. We need to give ourselves and others grace, particularly in areas where there is no rebellion but perhaps just a splash of the realities of growing up in the Lord that aren’t perfecto.

When my son lived at home he figured out a clever way to pick apart my idiosyncracies and uncover to me any hint of detected hypocrisy without getting in trouble. He used humor. Even though he straddled the boarder of disrespect with this at times, he revealed truth in such a way I couldn’t help but choke on my food while laughing it was so spot on and funny.

It’s okay to look at yourself in the mirror and admit your not perfect and love yourself anyway!

Being able to accept and love yourself where you are while working to be more Christ-like is important. Lighten up in life in general but be careful to remain sober minded. We serve a Holy God.

Laughter is a gift from God and is medicine to the soul. Laugh and laugh often.

I laughed so hard while flipping through pregnancy memes night before last I had mascara streaming down my face. My husband came in and smiled while I read them to him. I imagine they weren’t quite so funny to him. This week as my uncomfort level has grown with my pregnancy body and its aches and pains I have not always handled myself with stoic grace. I have made sure to share with him regularly my process, when not with words, with grunts and groans as I waddled about the house and struggled to do things that use to be a cinch, directing my husband with an onslaught of new chores as I get the house ready for the baby.

I’m ‘Nesting.’

Yesterday I worked all day in my pj’s and didn’t even brush my hair! I didn’t really realize this until my husband got home from work. ๐Ÿ˜Š I proceeded to crack jokes about my pregnant reality. He cooked dinner for the third night in a row.

Last night he had a dream. Swans were ‘nesting’ in these trees, squawking, making a bit of a racket. He was thinking they weren’t as beautiful or as big as regular swans. He thought they seemed out of place not floating gracefully in the pond below them.

Hahaha. He would never dream of pointing out my imperfections, even with humor, as my son once did, but my ability to interpret dreams (especially one this obvious!) did it for him.

I’m not exactly the picture of grace and perfection this week as my body fills with extra blood, my weight soars, my circulation struggles and my trips to the fridge and bathroom increase and keep me up at night all while I give a blow by blow account to my husband. I know I haven’t been as charming floating on the water of the Spirit ๐Ÿ˜‚ lately but thank God he still loves me and Jesus loves me too!

I am still beautiful and perfect in the sight of God and so are you, regardless of how you may be feeling or even acting.

I laugh at myself and the reality of my week and I also pray for greater grace to rise above my bodily limitations that I know will tempt me to complain over the next 6-7 weeks.

I pray for each of you too. Live. Laugh. Love.

Miraculous Freedom

Every evil thing that is coming against you has to cease and desist and be used to strengthen you, heal you on deeper levels and confirm and move you into your calling in the name of Jesus and by the power of His blood!

Press into the pressure. Dig deep. Walk through the doorways of pain that must be walked through to follow Christ into the fullness of your identity in Him and your destiny. He did not will evil on you. It is not God’s doing! Trust firmly in His goodness and His ability to take what the enemy meant for your harm and turn it into a powerful testimony and increased anointing that will be wielded against evil to destroy plans to cause further harm to self and others.

If you are walking hand in hand with Jesus what you experience in life will be used to walk you back through doorways of woundedness into the broken places of your soul that if entered bravely, and in obedience, with the true knowledge of God as a shield of faith before you will lead you to enter higher levels of glory and experience deeper levels of joy and peace than you have previously possessed.

No matter how strong the bondage was that the Lord is leading you out of or how violently you are being pursued by the powers of darkness that hate to lose their slave labor, God will make a way. Take what the Lord has provided, His instructions and promises, use what He has already placed in your hand, and command the waters to part in front of you. Walk in the miracle working power of God and cross over on dry land.

Praise the Lord as you turn around and watch Him swallow up all that has oppressed you. Don’t forget what He has done before. Believe He can do it again.

Don’t despise the process of your own deliverance. Trust and obey.

“Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the LORD drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided, and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left.”

Exodus 14:22-23

Build Your House on the Rock

Stop thinking about the problem. Whatever you focus on you multiply in power over you.

Focus on the finished work of the cross. Search for and focus on scriptural promises that relate to the issues that seem to be pressing in on you.

Dream dreams. Envision yourself wrapped lovingly in the arms of the Father. Speak life over your situation. Encourage yourself in the Lord. Stir up your hope by guarding your heart and mind from contaminating influences. Set your heart and mind on things above, not on earthly things.

Everything, everything, you see with your eyes is transient. Keep an eternal perspective. Hold everything and everyone loosely. Only one thing is constant and unchanging.

Build your life on God and His word and the flood waters of life when they come won’t take you under.

โ€œTherefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.โ€
-Matthew 7:24-27

Codependency Is Not Ministry

Don’t join people in their captivity in the hopes of setting them free. It won’t work!

God does not take pleasure in His children putting their righteousness, peace and joy in jeopardy in a misguided effort to help someone else.

In relationships, especially with people that do not serve God, boundaries need to be established and the secret place where we are called to abide with the Lord should be guarded with all diligence.

Don’t confide in or take counsel from the ungodly if you are not looking to invite confusion. Don’t walk hand in hand with sinners if your not trying to be led astray.

We are called to be in the world and not of it. We will have people God calls us to be in relationship with for His purposes that are not like minded. Use wisdom and discretion. There are many warnings in scripture about being unequally yoked to nonbelievers. We are not to be partners with them. It’s not being judgmental. It is protecting what has been deposited in us.

Be willing to let go of anyone God is removing or that you know is keeping you from moving forward in Him. And to those that He has ordained for this season, keep your perspective, God’s perspective. Jesus was a friend of sinners but He didn’t trust Himself to them and He kept the perspective of Doctor-patient.

If your looking to an unsaved person or a person who is in rebellion to meet your emotional or intimacy needs, you are opening yourself up to be influenced, used or manipulated for evil and it is a sign post that needs to be evaluated for your own spiritual health.

Codependency is not ministry.

‘Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night.

That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither-whatever they do prospers.’
-Psalm 1:1-3

Have No Opinion

Have no opinion about what God wants to do or how He wants to do it in your life. Your opinions can cause what the Spirit is speaking to be misunderstood and if your will is not surrendered you can more easily be misled by deceiving spirits. Pray for wisdom. Speak daily out of your mouth that your steps are ordered by the Lord. Pray that God will bind your desires to His desires and make you of one mind with Him, and then learn to make godly decisions and pad those decisions with your faith in God’s desire and ability to come through for you in the most unlikely ways.

Don’t forget God will work all things for your good when you love Him and are called according to His purpose, even your mistakes.

God is pleased with even your fumbling efforts at obedience. He will give grace to the humble. Make decisions and stand in faith about the decisions you have made. God is looking for people to walk boldly forward.

If you’ve missed it big time, God will redirect your path, block you from moving forward, or bring correction if need be.

‘If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.’ -James 1:5-8

Follow Christ at All Cost

The enemy tempts us to do what feels good, puts our needs first, fits our own understanding, requires no faith, brings immediate but shallow acceptance, causes the least resistance, or feels most comfortable now and then laughs and jeers when we get hit with the consequences that inevitably come later: guilt, shame, worry, poverty, embarrassment, lack, bondage, emptiness, rejection and isolation.

God gently directs us to do what may be uncomfortable, difficult, selfless, contradicts our own understanding, gets us rejected temporarily, and requires faith and then delights to bless our socks off with the consequences that inevitably lead to highest hearts fulfillment, purpose, freedom, peace, love, joy, and intimacy.

Don’t fall for it! Do today what you are going to be glad you did long term. Follow Christ’s example at all cost and do not grow weary in doing what is right!!!

———————————————-

‘Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.’

-Hebrews 12:1-3

Activate God’s Power Within You

Whatever you are focused on is going to gain power over you. If you are focused on everything that’s going wrong, you magnify those things until they consume your thoughts and affect your moods and emotions.

It solves nothing to keep rehearsing the problems in your mind and leads to discontent and discouragement.

An even more detrimental downturn can happen when you keep talking about the issues that you want to see transformed, removed or upgraded. Check your spirit. If you’re rehearsing the problem to someone that doesn’t have the power to change things or isn’t going to encourage you and point you to Christ, it is going to do you more harm than good. You may convince someone else to feel sorry for you which will only confirm your fears and feelings of powerlessness.
There is a time to seek godly counsel and encouragement, but daily gab sessions with your mom, spouse or children do not count and turning to the ungodly or the person that caused the problem will only add fuel to the fire of adversity your walking through.

Even if its a problem in relationship that needs to be worked through, use caution about what to say, when to say it, and if it even needs to be said at all. Remember, God is at work, and your words can sabotage what He’s trying to do on your behalf.

Our attitudes and emotions have the ability to create, our words even more so, and what we believe has everything to do with how things turn out. Pray, “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight Lord.’

Misconceptions About God

Misconceptions about God lead to distrust. Distrust leads to deception. Deception leads to disobedience. Disobedience leads to death.

Withhold judgement about what is good. Only God is good. When we fail to see Him as He is, we see our world through a distorted lens.

In so much as we see God as He is, we will see ourselves and everyone else as they are in God’s sight.

Receiving the love of God, loving God, loving self and loving others are all interconnected.

Misconceptions about God, self and others lead to a whole slew of wrong mindsets that will keep a person from becoming all that God created them to be, doing all God created them to do and experiencing the abundant life that Jesus promised to those that follow Him.

Study the Word with an open heart towards God. Ask Him to set you free from any stronghold that the enemy has formed in your mind to keep you from walking in the promises and blessings of God.

“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.โ€
-John 8:12

โ€œIf you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.โ€
-John 8:31-32

God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
-1 John 1:5-7
