Codependency Is Not Ministry

Don’t join people in their captivity in the hopes of setting them free. It won’t work!

God does not take pleasure in His children putting their righteousness, peace and joy in jeopardy in a misguided effort to help someone else.

In relationships, especially with people that do not serve God, boundaries need to be established and the secret place where we are called to abide with the Lord should be guarded with all diligence.

Don’t confide in or take counsel from the ungodly if you are not looking to invite confusion. Don’t walk hand in hand with sinners if your not trying to be led astray.

We are called to be in the world and not of it. We will have people God calls us to be in relationship with for His purposes that are not like minded. Use wisdom and discretion. There are many warnings in scripture about being unequally yoked to nonbelievers. We are not to be partners with them. It’s not being judgmental. It is protecting what has been deposited in us.

Be willing to let go of anyone God is removing or that you know is keeping you from moving forward in Him. And to those that He has ordained for this season, keep your perspective, God’s perspective. Jesus was a friend of sinners but He didn’t trust Himself to them and He kept the perspective of Doctor-patient.

If your looking to an unsaved person or a person who is in rebellion to meet your emotional or intimacy needs, you are opening yourself up to be influenced, used or manipulated for evil and it is a sign post that needs to be evaluated for your own spiritual health.

Codependency is not ministry.

‘Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night.

That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither-whatever they do prospers.’
-Psalm 1:1-3

Change The Lens

Why are you so downcast My precious child? Where is your faith in My love and hope for My future grace to come through for you? Please continue to trust Me in spite of the hurt inside. There is nothing that you can not accomplish if you will believe. Do not focus on the stench of the rotting flesh or mourn the death of your dreams as if I am powerless over your circumstances. I have not ceased from maneuvering, by My Spirit, all of the pieces to the puzzle of your life to fit them together into My perfect design. I know there is confusion as to how I will arrange things in your favor. Many of the pieces are shaped in such a way that they do not match the space in which you believe they are to go. Stop trying to shove a square into a circle and step back in order to gain a new perspective of the overall picture.

You ask Me, “What can I do?’ My answer is that you must surrender your burdens to Me; cast your cares onto My capable shoulders and fear not; know that I am with you and for you.

You have not yet been given some of the strategic pieces that will be needed to build onto what has already been fitted together. Calm down and stop searching for something that I have yet to give. For today, quiet yourself in My Presence and refuse to bow your knee to fear. Give Me the sacrifice of your praise and it will lift you out of the pit of self-pity, confusion and doubt. Let Me deliver you from the enemies plan to lead you into despair by releasing the need to figure out how I am creating the masterpiece that is your dreams fulfillment out of the individual parts of the whole.

Change the lens you are viewing your relationships and circumstances through to take in a wider view. You are focusing on two fragmented sections that are misaligned, not taking into consideration that to everything there is a season and a purpose for everything under the sun. When the clock strikes the eleventh hour I will release the missing piece, bringing into focus the importance of calculating what was formerly thought an undesirable extraneous variable.

I know the beginning from the end. Do not let your emotions run you over and distract you from the tasks I have given you to do this day. If the enemy is unable to tempt you to leave your post or stop your race he is perfectly content to cause you to procrastinate your progress. Fight your battles but fight them bravely from a posture of certain victory. Do not give the enemy the satisfaction of blowing your emotions up in your own face. By your calm posture of assurance he will cower, knowing his days of wreaking havoc in your life are numbered.

Thy Will Be Done

When you have prayed, given and fasted and are still struggling with doubts that things will ever turn around in your situation, and find yourself afraid to move forward in the direction in which the Lord is leading you, keep pressing forward regardless of how you feel. Feelings are fickly and can’t be trusted.

Let the pressure bring you back to that place in your heart where you once again pray, “Lord, I want to love like you love.” This is a prayer that God delights to answer. His grace will flood in to meet you at your point of willingness to be conformed into the image of His Son.

When you are in dire need, at the end of your rope and wondering when God is going to come through for you, shift your focus to how you can come through for God, He will empower you to become as He is in your situation.

To be as He is, is to want what He wants. To want what He wants, is to do what He does. To do what He does, is to create how He creates. To create how He creates is to say, “Let there be light,’ and there is light. Pray for your daily bread but also pray, “Thy will be done.”

His Way, His Time and for His Glory

I am a friend of God! Woohoo. I LOVE walking in close intimate fellowship with the King of the universe. God no longer calls me a servant because I do what I see the Father doing and I pray what I hear Jesus praying and I desire what the Holy Spirit desires. I do not have to fear that my prayers will not be answered. I have Gods Word on this matter and He is not a man that He should lie. He reveals deep mysteries to me and its an intense and thrilling ride. I have fought through my doubts and fears into a spacious place of grace and power, a new level of glory and supernatural revelation. I am making it through another round of painful pruning and can see and taste the massive fruit that is coming in the next season. I remain in the vine. By the grace and mercy of God I live and breath and soldier on. I beat my body into submission. Christ has conquered death and it will no longer reign in my mortal body. He has anointed my eyes to see heavenly visions and deep and hidden things. He has walked me through the valley of the shadow of death once again. My knees wobbled and my brow sweat, but I clung to the hope of my calling in Christ Jesus and the dark and cloudy skies are clearing; the path beneath my feet is a steady uphill climb out of the valley and up the mountain that is lifting me high above my enemies.

Remain in God even if it hurts. Remain in Him when He leads you into darkness; when you can’t see where He is leading you. Remain in Him when you feel the cut of His knife; He is removing dead weight. Remain in Him and He will remain in you and your joy will grow and grow and grow. His power will be available to you to accomplish everything He calls you to do, and the desires of your heart will be fulfilled His way, His time and for His glory!
‘As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. This is my command: Love each other.”

Wilderness Wandering

Are you in a ‘desert season?’ Have you been waiting on the fulfillment of a promise past the point of all reason and human hope? Do you feel trapped in your circumstances? Are you suffering lack? Sickness? Weariness?

Do not lose heart! Stoke the embers in your heart and fan them ablaze with passion again.

Encourage yourself in The Lord.

‘To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven’ -Ecclesiastes 3:1

Remember the Israelites and their journey out of bondage and slavery through the desert, and the battles they fought to take possession of the promised land.

If you remember, Joshua and Caleb were the only men of their generation permitted to go into the promised land after the Israelites wandered and were tested in the desert for 40 years.

2 out of a likely 2.5 million people. Not good odds!!!

‘But they soon forgot what he had done and did not wait for his council. In the desert they gave in to their craving; in the wasteland they put God to the test. So he gave them what they asked for, but sent a wasting disease upon them.’
-Psalm 106:13-15

I’m pondering my life and holding it up to the light of the Word this morning.

Does my life more closely resemble the spies that spread a false report? The people that accepted the false report as truth? The impatient, grumbling, idol worshipping, giving into cravings and not waiting on the council of God, Israelites?

Or is my life a life of faith and rest, like that of Joshua and Caleb, the men that believed God and had confidence that what He promised would come to pass; that they would be able to accomplish what God said they could?

How we see God, what we believe about his character, and whether or not we take him at his word, colors how we view our life and the world around us.

‘Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it. For we also have had the good news proclaimed to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because they did not share the faith of those who obeyed…..

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.’

-Hebrew 4:1-2; 15-16

Enthusiasm And Dream Fulfillment

Enthusiasm is contagious and causes us to take on life with an attitude of wonder. When we focus on God and claim His promises found in the Bible, we can go through life with grateful hearts and enthusiastic attitudes.

No matter what situation we find ourself in we can live passionately.

We are all given endless oppurtunities to glorify God with our lives. Ask God to open your eyes to the ways He wants to use you each day.

If your waiting for the right circumstances, the right people, and the right breaks to start really serving God with your life, your likely to have a long wait.

“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.” -Luke 16:10

Sometimes we are waiting on God to open doors for us, while He is waiting on us to take steps of obedience right where we are. He knows those steps we need to take that will lead us to the door that is waiting open for us to walk through.

It is the narrow path that leads us to the doors that are open and waiting for us.

Stop waiting for open doors and instead determine to walk in the light, as He is in the light, one step at a time.

Follow Jesus. He is The Door.

God wants to bring our dreams to pass! After all it is He that has placed those dreams in our heart.

Trust in The Lord and do good and He will bring you into your promised land. He will let nothing be wasted in our lives as we bring all that we are and all that we are not and lay ourselves continually at His feet.

If you do not find your delight in The Lord in your present circumstances, its not likely you will delight in The Lord when your circumstances change.

Delight in The Lord now and find that the tight places and lingering trials that test your perseverance to the breaking point time and time again, become open pastures; the tiny spaces where before you had no strength left to stand, becomes spacious places as you rise above on wings of faith, hope and love to soar.

The Power Of Belief

Do you feel like there are many projects unfinished, wounds unhealed, personality traits unsanctified? Have you been feeling overwhelmed by seeming unsurmountable financial debts or obligations? Are you struggling with confusion; about your future, the plan God has for your life, in your relationships?

These kinds of feelings and issues can leave us tied up in knots and those knots can wind us up tight in negative thinking, which can lead us into anxiety and depression.

Last night I had a lucid dream (I was aware I was dreaming as I dreamed). I believe that the lucidity of my dream was given to me specifically to write this post and stir up your faith.

To be conscious in a dream is to be aware of our ability to change the outcome; to have power over the dream story.

Our dreams are significant because they reflect our lives in symbols.

In the dream I was holding a tangled ball of string. It wasn’t just one strand of string slightly tangled, it was many strings intertwined into a tangled mass and balled up.

I knew it was humanly impossible to untangle it, but in recognizing I was dreaming, I knew I could affect the outcome in any way I desired.

I pulled the ball in half, untangling the whole bunch in the process.

In this dream parable lies the answer to many of life’s problems: Activating our faith. Having the belief that God has given us power to change things.

When we realize that we are not powerless bystanders to our own lives and problems, but co-creators with Christ, we can begin untangling the messes in our lives. Each strand of our existence can be straightened out and sewn into the beautiful tapestry that is our life.

Christ died the death of a criminal, paying the price for our sins, delivering us from the curse of the law. He sent His Spirit to guide us and empower us to live victorious lives. We are more than conquerors through Him who loves us.

We are no longer victims but victors.

I don’t care how long a problem has been present or how hopeless the situation may seem, begin to believe that within you lies the power to see those issues and relationships heal and straighten out.

No lack. Believe the Word of God! He will supply all of our needs.

No fear. Believe the Word of God! Perfect love casts out fear and we are loved perfectly.

No confusion. Believe the Word of God! We have the mind of Christ.

No despair. Believe the Word of God! And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.

No death. Believe the Word of God! For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Purify Our Appetites

Self-indulgence, and giving into our fleshly appetites is sin; and it separates us from the presence and blessing of God.

Food has become the idol of many Christians today. We ask to see God’s power and glory while at the same time worshipping at the alter of food.

Join together in following my example, brothers and sisters, and just as you have us as a model, keep your eyes on those who live as we do. For, as I have often told you before and now tell you again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things.
-Philippians 3:17-19

Thank you Father for your certain deliverance! We praise you for your healing power. We receive forgiveness for our sins and transgressions in humility, taking nothing for granted.

Lord, increase our appetite for you, may we hunger and thirst for righteousness knowing we will be filled. Help us to live balanced, self-controlled lives, seeking your face in prayer and fasting as we apply our blood bought right to be freed from the power of sin and the control of our fleshly desires.

Give us the power to overcome our appetites that war against our soul and the abundant life you died for us to have.

Train and equip us to rise up as a mighty army, marching forward in victory, declaring your praises and shining forth your light, calling those that walk in darkness into your glorious light.

Jesus Loves You

Love is invincible facing danger and death. Passion laughs at the terrors of hell. The fire of love stops at nothing— it sweeps everything before it. Flood waters can’t drown love, torrents of rain can’t put it out. Love can’t be bought, love can’t be sold— it’s not to be found in the marketplace.
-Song of Solomon 8:6

I came across this verse on a blog the other day and this beautiful version swept me up in its passion and beauty.

I keep hearing the whispers of our Savior, ‘I love you. I love you. I love you.’

It’s too much love to contain within myself. It flows in and through the dry and barren places of my soul.
Refreshing the deepest parts of me.

Gently God’s love mends the broken places in my heart, moving on to straighten the crooked path of my feet.

This love is bright and strong and stabilizing, carrying me along on the current of contentment in Christ.

Content, yet yearning; desires flames are ignited.

Burning.

Waiting.

Waiting for the fulfillment of my Beloved’s promises.

I die.

One thousand times I have died.

Born again.

Courage builds. Fears subside.

In God’s image I am being created.

I am given new life.

God’s love for me. God’s love in me. God’s love through me.

My love grows.

A Life Upgrade

I am upgrading your life.

You have been ordering off the dollar menu long enough.

You have been trying to purchase for yourself, out of your little, the things that you need for a full and victorious life.

Instead, offer your little to Me and receive in exchange all that I Am.

Through My death and resurrection I have purchased fullness of life for all who come to Me.

I care about your health; mentally, physically and spiritually and long to infuse each area of Your life with My healing and strength.

I have the provision you need to accomplish all that I have called you to do with excellence.

Your unbelief and fear are blocking the flow of My life to and through you. I need you to believe in and trust in My words to you completely. You have already seen what your unbelief and fear have purchased in your life. Now watch and see what manifests when you place your confidence fully in Me and My word.

Begin by bringing the worthless currency of worry, unbelief and fear to Me and exchanging them for an impartation of My Spirit’s anointing that will bring you into a level of gift faith greater than you have ever experienced.

Much of what you have believed to be faith in your life has been a counterfeit. I have been stripping you of this false faith that you have clung to; faith in your abilities to accomplish anything of value apart from Me.

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.’
